As a Trade Settlement Specialist, your role will be pivotal in supporting the overall success of the Trade Reconciliation Team in Canada. You will ensure that specific individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are executed in alignment with the team's strategic business goals. It is essential that all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader organizational resources, systems, and knowledge.
  • Oversee daily trade and entitlement settlements, manage exception reports, and reconcile client positions for both nominee and discretionary accounts as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain diverse communication channels with internal stakeholders regarding the status of settlement and reconciliation processes.
  • Regularly update and maintain related procedural and instructional documents, proactively seeking improvements in processes.
  • Identify, monitor, and track system defects, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Understand the Bank's risk appetite and culture, integrating these considerations into daily activities and decision-making.
  • Strive for effective and efficient operations within your area, adhering to Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring compliance with operational, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A University or College Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the financial services sector.
  • Familiarity with securities and brokerage operations, including Trading, or completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is advantageous.
  • Adept problem solver with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
