Position Overview

Position Status

Permanent Part-Time with Guaranteed Hours

Hours of Work

29.5 hours per week, including Days, Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays. Flexibility is required as per collective agreements.

Compensation

Hourly pay rates range from $20.93 to $24.05 for Autism Support Assistants, with additional rates for overnight positions.

Role Responsibilities

As an Autism Support Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing coaching and assistance in social skills, communication, and leisure activities.
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to achieving quality of life, ensuring that personal outcomes are met for each individual.
  • Administering medication according to established procedures.
  • Adhering to behavioral and crisis protocols as documented.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with families, support networks, and community members.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Human Services Diploma or Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • The physical capability to support individuals with ASD.
  • A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Proof of full Covid-19 Immunization, with accommodations available for those unable to vaccinate for protected reasons.
