Drafting Technician

We are seeking a skilled Drafting Technician to join our team at Maple Contractors Ltd. as a Design Specialist.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing engineering designs and drawings, reading blueprints to determine work requirements, and developing and preparing design sketches. They will also prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates, as well as prepare contracts and tenders. Additionally, they will write technical reports, specifications, and estimate costs and materials. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, be organized, and have the ability to work under pressure.
Responsibilities:- Prepare engineering designs and drawings
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements
- Develop and prepare design sketches
- Prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates
- Prepare contracts and tenders
- Write technical reports
- Write specifications
- Estimate costs and materials
- Complete documentation packages and drawing sets
- Examine drawings for conformity and errors
- Consult with client, engineers, or production specialists to establish product requirements
- Leading/instructing groups
- Create pattern size variations from master patterns using computer or drafting instruments
- AutoCAD Certification
- Civil engineering technology (CVT)
- Drafting (Architectural) Trade Certification
- SOLIDWORKS Certification
- Steel detailing Certification
- Drafting Trade Certification
- Certification by a provincial or territorial association
- A+ Certification
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, handling heavy loads, and standing for extended periods. They will be required to work under pressure and have excellent attention to detail.
