Job Title: Environmental Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Laboratory Technician to join our team at SGS. As an Environmental Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting a wide variety of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct applied research and experimental testing to analyze samples and provide accurate results.
  • Design, develop, test, install, and operate equipment and systems to ensure efficient and accurate testing.
  • Compile and analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Receive, inspect, sort, and label client samples, and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components, and calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis.
Requirements:
  • A post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a Science-related program (Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, etc.) is required.
  • Preferably a Chemical technician/technology diploma.
  • A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting is an asset.
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Incumbents must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and to balance conflicting demands of high volume versus quality of results.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client locations may be required from time to time.
