We are looking for an Intermediate Building Science Specialist to become a member of our Building Science - Structural Rehabilitation & Testing Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct condition surveys and assessments of structural components and waterproofing for various concrete elements.
  • Prepare specifications and drawings for rehabilitation initiatives.
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information from contractors.
  • Participate in meetings with architects, clients, contractors, and trades.
  • Oversee mock-up and installation standard reviews.
  • Write and review reports from field reviewers.
  • Evaluate architectural drawings and specifications related to waterproofing and concrete elements for new construction projects.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior staff.
  • Prepare engineering fee proposals.
  • Conduct construction contract administration and review services during repairs.
  • Build strong client relationships and foster new business opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies at all sites and report to management.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of technical experience in building science or structural rehabilitation.
  • A university degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concrete structural elements is essential.
  • Familiarity with various building envelope systems and assemblies is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of standards related to parking structures and balcony systems is crucial.
  • Experience in restoration projects is required; new construction experience is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for site visits are necessary.
  • Leadership skills are considered an asset.
