Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shop Hand to join our team at Magnum Cementing Services in Red Deer, AB. As a Shop Hand, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our shop and yard, as well as performing various maintenance duties to ensure the smooth operation of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized shop and yard, including floors, washrooms, coffee rooms, and clean/wash bay.
  • Tool Management: Put parts and tools away in identified storage locations.
  • Laundry and Maintenance: Perform laundry duties and ensure cleaned items are put away in their designated areas. Perform general maintenance of shop tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Supply Transfer: Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of a hand truck.
  • Equipment Assistance: Assist with cleaning and working on equipment.
  • Bulk Plant Assistance: Assist in the bulk plant when required.
  • Assembly Work: Perform general assembly work that may require operating automated machinery and various power/hand tools.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training and development activities to learn the terminologies and operation of Magnum's equipment and its components as it relates to the cementing of oil and gas wells.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license (non-graduated) with a clean driver's record.
  • Physical Demands: Be physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Eligibility: Be legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.

  • Previous Shop Experience: Previously worked in a shop environment.
  • Mechanical Skills: Familiar with operating and maintaining automated machinery, hand and power tools.
  • Desire to Learn: Desire to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Strong Work Ethic: Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliability, and dependability.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Safety Awareness: Understand the importance of safety.

  • Initiative: Demonstrate initiative and results-oriented behavior.
Assets
  • Class 1 License: Interest in getting a Class 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) and working in oil and gas field operations.
  • Mechanical Inclination: Mechanically inclined.
