About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive Indigenous Healing Facilitator to join our team at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing holistic, culturally based prevention services to our children and families in the Toronto Indigenous Community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement the OTC Process: Collaborate with our team to solidify the Original Talking Circle (OTC) process within the agency and between departments.
  • Field Referrals and Conduct Intake Screenings: Respond to referrals and conduct intake screenings with families to assess their needs and develop a plan for moving forward.
  • Facilitate Circle Discussions: Co-facilitate Circle discussions with Elders to create a safe and inclusive space for families to share their concerns and work towards solutions.
  • Develop Agreed-upon Plans: Work with families to develop and implement plans to address their needs and improve their well-being.
  • Ensure Compliance with Legislation: Ensure compliance with provincial and occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide Consultation and Support: Provide consultation and support to internal staff and families as needed to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Strong Understanding of Indigenous Approaches to Healing: Possess a strong understanding and practice of Indigenous approaches to healing, including land-based practices and cultural knowledge.
  • Education and Experience: Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, and have experience working with Indigenous people.
  • Facilitation and Communication Skills: Possess excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrate a deep understanding of Indigenous culture and the unique dynamics that exist within the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
