This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge laser processing equipment and the latest in robotics and machine tool technology in a research and applications laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and schedule the Applications Lab resources to ensure efficient use of equipment and personnel.
- Provide technical direction and assistance to employees and customers using the equipment, including preparing robot and laser equipment for specific experiments.
- Design and implement simple automation systems to streamline laboratory processes.
- Perform regular maintenance and service history tracking of all equipment, and troubleshoot and repair various laboratory electronics and control systems.
- Update and enforce training manuals and standard operating procedures, and assist with metallographic cross-sectioning and polishing.
- Analyze test results using electronic reporting, and participate in additional projects as needed.
- College diploma in industrial automation, electronics, robotics, or a related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, or a university engineering degree in a related field, plus 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in electronics, robotics, controls, and automation, welding applications, and/or manufacturing technology.
- Fluency in two or more of the following CNC/robot programming environments: G-Code, ABB, Kuka, Fanuc.
- Fluency in one or more common PLC/ladder logic programming environments.
- Experience implementing and configuring one or more common factory automation/fieldbus network (EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, well-organized, and able to operate independently to accomplish clearly-stated goals with minimal direct supervision.
- Strong professional communication, negotiation, and teaching skills in the English language are essential.
