Warehouse Worker Job Description

At Penske Transportation Solutions, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Warehouse Worker to join our team. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurate Data Entry: Accurately match numbers and letters, and electronically scan products using a warehouse management system.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately stage and sort products for loading, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Material Handling: Loads and unloads trailers, opens and closes dock doors, and moves materials within the warehouse.
  • Quality Control: Ensure damaged products are identified and removed when received, and complete daily logs.
  • Communication: Communicate with associates from other shifts, and attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Work Orders: Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
  • Inventory Tracking: Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Container Preparation: Assemble product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers, and sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms.
  • Inventory Distribution: Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
  • Customer Orders: Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Inventory Management: Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment (where applicable).

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous warehouse experience preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with associates.
