SIU Investigator

Xpera Risk Mitigation and Investigation is seeking a skilled SIU Investigator to join our team in a part-time capacity.

About the Role:

The SIU department provides investigative services, technical expertise, and is a resource for clients nationally. Our vision is of world-class performance and technical expertise dedicated to the appropriate investigation consistent with the highest standards of professional, ethical, and legal conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth and specialized investigations beyond the scope of clients' in-house availability and expertise.
• Investigate files where fact-finding is required, ensuring a fair, objective, thorough, timely, and professional manner.
• Provide investigative services, technical expertise, and support to clients nationally.
• Collaborate with clients to facilitate the resolution of meritorious matters.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of investigative experience, ideally in Regulatory, Workplace Investigations, Insurance Claims, and Theft Investigations.
• Consideration will also be given to those with significant expertise in one line of business based on experience.
• Knowledge of legal processes and evidence collection.
• Post-secondary education or equivalency in training.
• Computer literacy and ability to learn new programs.
• Possess a valid Ontario Private Investigators license.
• Willingness to travel.
• Valid Driver's license; Reliable vehicle and clean driving record.

Skills Required:

• Precision and attention to detail.
• Practiced in active listening and summarizing evidence and analytical assessments.
• Experienced in preparing and conducting recorded interviews.
• Ability to professionally and tactfully handle difficult conversations and confrontation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Above average analytical and report writing skills.
• Comfortable with discussing and providing solutions or recommendations to clients.
• Reading and understanding regulations/policies and applying them to investigations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
