Crisis Counsellor Opportunity

Huronia Transition Homes is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending all violence against women. We operate multiple programs, including La Maison Rosewood Shelter, which provides support to women fleeing violence or experiencing homelessness.

We are seeking a temporary full-time Crisis Counsellor to join our team. This role requires rotating shifts of 12.5 hours, with both day and night shifts. The position is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent life/work experience;
  • Knowledge of the violence against women framework;
  • Experience working with women from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and socio-economic needs;
  • Ability to provide immediate and responsive crisis counselling in person and by telephone;
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Communication skills in French or another language are an asset.
