Our facility features a 10-bed residential hospice located in the heart of Fredericton.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The LPN is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care while managing other team members.
  • Practices in accordance with established professional, ethical, and legal standards.
  • Communicates patient status and needs effectively to physicians, ensuring symptom management through patient-centered assessments.
  • Maintains high standards of accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Demonstrates competency in medication administration, assessment skills, treatments, and wound care.
  • Assumes the role of charge nurse, providing leadership and overseeing the delivery of quality health services while respecting patients' rights to personalized end-of-life care.
  • Offers ongoing education, support, and grief counseling to patients, families, and staff in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures established by Hospice Fredericton and the NB Health and Safety Act.
  • Actively seeks learning opportunities and sets self-directed goals for professional growth.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to other care team members in a professional and caring manner.
  • Encourages teamwork among the care team and promotes a positive working environment.
  • Acts as an advocate for patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ensures the provision of safe, high-quality care at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current registration with ANBLPN.
  • Experience in managing palliative care symptoms.
  • Completion of the LEAP course is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates a caring and compassionate approach.
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities.
  • Highly organized and proactive.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and weekends.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Utilizes sound judgment, diplomacy, and maintains confidentiality.
  • Fluency in English; spoken French is an asset.
