Unit Overview

The Genetic Services are delivered collaboratively by the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Laboratory Medicine, ensuring comprehensive care for individuals across all ages in a supportive environment.

Role Overview

The Genetic Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care by providing support to physicians, genetic counselors, and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with patient triage and clinic operations
  • Preparing and following up on case documentation
  • Gathering patient records and accessing relevant medical literature
  • Coordinating genetic testing for patients and their families
  • Preparing informative materials for patients

Work Schedule

Typical working hours are Monday to Friday during the day.

Qualifications

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Science, Biology, or Genetics is preferred.
2. Fundamental knowledge of genetics is essential.
3. Excellent communication skills are required.
4. Strong organizational abilities are necessary.
5. Capability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team is important.
6. Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access is expected.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
8. Strong organizational skills are a must.

Additional Information

As part of the employment conditions, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
