The City of Regina is seeking a highly skilled Claims Investigator to join our team. As a Claims Investigator, you will be responsible for investigating and processing claims against the City, determining liability, and negotiating settlements.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate claims from internal departments, external third parties, and the public.
- Analyze information to determine liability and negotiate settlements.
- Review and analyze data to determine the extent of the City's liability.
- Prepare loss and recovery documents, and pursue recovery for damage to City property.
- Participate in legal proceedings, including hearings, mediation, arbitration, discoveries, and trials.
- Assist the Risk Manager with the annual insurance renewal process.
- Provide technical advice and interpretation of The Cities Act, other provincial legislation, bylaws, and regulations.
- University degree or College diploma (or equivalent experience) and Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP).
- Two to three years of experience as a general claims adjuster in multiple lines of coverage, including liability claims and insurance work.
- Knowledge of claims handling, procedures, and general insurance industry.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to examine and analyze data and arrive at sound decisions.
- Ability to demonstrate strong negotiation skills and experience in achieving favourable settlements.
- Must possess a valid driver's licence and have a car available for work usage.
