Position Summary:

You will join our Global Nordex Engineering Grid Integration group to support business in North America. Your role will involve supporting the Project's interconnection process from application to commissioning, including dynamic model analysis and model tune-ups for interconnections studies and compliance with reliability standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop strategies to support business in North America as a liaison with the Global Engineering Electrical Grid Integration group.
  2. Track and keep up-to-date with ISO codes and requirements related to reliability standards, project interconnection, and dynamic models.
  3. Assess ISO grid code compliance based on the existing product portfolio and provide guidance on meeting code and interconnection process requirements.
  4. Own and lead conversations with project stakeholders regarding project application data, interconnection process, and commissioning.
  5. Support project owners during the interconnection process, coordinating internal support from Global Engineering and tracking required data.
  6. Conduct simulations with dynamic models representing wind turbine generators and plant controllers to meet reliability standards, ISO codes, or demonstrate model quality.
  7. Update, test, and verify models after modifications to on-site control parameters or software changes, including managing updates for quality assurance documents.
  8. Assist the Grid Integration and Control groups at Global Engineering with developing dynamic compliant models, adequately configured with hardware and software for accurate reflection of settings in turbines and plant controllers.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in electrical power engineering from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  2. Master's degree in Power Electronics is highly desirable.
  3. 5+ years of working experience in renewable or traditional energy development or transmission planning.
  4. Experience with HV and transmission system planning, especially project interconnection processes.
  5. Experience with dynamic model analysis software (PSCAD, PSS/e, TSAT, EMTP-RV).
  6. Ability and willingness to travel (20% typical).
  7. Broad knowledge and familiarity with NERC reliability standards and representative ISO codes in North America.
  8. Above-average expertise using different software languages for dynamic model analysis.
  9. Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
  10. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  11. Strong analytical thinking.
  12. Clear and concise technical report writing and presentation skills.
  13. Experience with Microsoft Office.
  14. Good command of English as primary language. Other languages are a plus (German, Spanish).
