Role Overview:
As a key member of our finance team, reporting directly to the Director of Consolidations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the corporate Consolidations function. Your responsibilities will include managing and coordinating the consolidation process in collaboration with regional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly global consolidation of financial results for Brookfield Renewable Partners LP and Brookfield Renewable Corp, collaborating closely with professional accounting teams across various regions.
- Oversee the preparation and review of supporting schedules and financial analyses necessary for financial statement disclosures.
- Manage the year-end fair value assessments and complex accounting transactions.
- Facilitate external auditors' requests, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.
- Coordinate corporate-level internal control activities to maintain SOx compliance during the financial statement close process.
- Oversee the acquisition process involving intricate ownership structures and accounting transactions.
- Support the integration of newly acquired assets into the existing reporting framework.
- Engage with business and finance teams to address inquiries and ensure timely compliance with consolidation system requirements.
- Lead initiatives aimed at process improvements for both corporate and regional consolidation teams, collaborating on cross-functional projects.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to managers and their teams.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be a member in good standing of a Professional Corporation with a recognized Professional Accounting designation.
- Minimum of eight years of progressive experience, including at least five years in a management capacity.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, working consistently and thoroughly.
- Able to thrive in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of establishing effective relationships across diverse groups within the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; proficiency in English is essential, with French as an asset.
- Proven leadership abilities, fostering excellence within teams.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) compliance.
- Experience in consolidation and complex accounting practices.
- Familiarity with consolidation systems such as OneStream, Cognos Controller, or Hyperion Financial Management is advantageous.
- Strong financial systems expertise, particularly in advanced MS Excel.
Work Environment:
This position requires on-site presence for effective collaboration, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
