Job Summary

Rising Edge Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient commissioning of primary and secondary power equipment in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commissioning and Testing: Commission and test primary and secondary power equipment in the field, including medium to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays, and transformers.
  • Mentorship and Education: Mentor and educate apprentices on reading and interpreting blueprints, risk management, and industry best practices.
  • Test Equipment Operation: Set up and operate standard as well as specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on the job site.
  • Workplace Safety: Work safely alongside all members of the construction crew and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Acceptance and maintenance testing of electrical equipment, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control equipment in medium to high-voltage transmission substations.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in field testing and commissioning, with past supervisory experience being an asset.
  • Substation Experience: Experience in substation work, particularly with 144kV and 240kV equipment, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with relay testing using various equipment, such as Omicron, GE, Manta, Meggar, and experience with testing software, including Omicron Test Universe, Doble M4000, AcSELerator, and Siemens Digsi.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work comfortably with computers and spreadsheets, and a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health, and safety issues in the workplace.
