Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill children and youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, record, and report the health status of patients to identify and document patient status.
- Collaborate with the Respiratory Therapy team, multi-disciplinary team members, community care partners, and the patient and family to develop and modify patient care plans.
- Provide Respiratory Therapy care by performing functions commensurate with level of education and training, including assisting and/or supporting the supervising Respiratory Therapist with procedures, therapies, interventions, etc.
Requirements
- Successful completion of Level 1 of clinical placement from an accredited and recognized Respiratory Therapy Program and continued enrollment in a recognized education program.
- Certification in Basic Life Support or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Organize assigned workload and set priorities.
- Think critically and problem solve.
- Deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
