Job Summary
The Stores Attendant III is a key member of the Stores Department, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the department's functions, including receiving, shipping, storage, distribution, record keeping, and material handling duties. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date computerized and manual user inventory and other Stores records.
- Receive, sign for, unpack, and check goods shipped to the Hospital; identify and return damaged or spoiled goods to suppliers and complete necessary documentation.
- Place incoming Stores inventory items in the appropriate storage location; rotate stock to ensure optimal storage and accessibility.
- Handle hazardous goods in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Process user stock requirements into the automated Material Management system; assemble and distribute supplies to storage areas of applicable departments.
- Monitor supplies in user areas and maintain required quotas to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Operate the pallet-lift, forklift, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct accurate counts of stock items during physical counts to meet audit or inventory control requirements.
- Maintain security measures for the Department as per policy and procedures.
- Keep work and storage areas clean, safe, and organized to ensure a productive work environment.
Requirements
- Grade 12 plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
