Position Overview
The Pharmacy Intern plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations while gaining valuable experience in the pharmaceutical field. This position is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
- Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent, with active enrollment in an accredited pharmacy program
- Licensing Requirements: Must possess a valid in-state Pharmacy Intern License
- Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure optimal inventory management by placing online orders, adjusting order points, and assisting in physical inventory preparations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to comply with company and regulatory standards.
- Process written prescriptions on a daily basis.
- Support team members in various tasks to promote operational efficiency.
- Analyze service metrics and collaborate with the team to enhance performance outcomes.
- Carry out the standard duties of a Pharmacy Technician.
- Greet and assist patients with warmth and professionalism at all pharmacy entry points.
- Deliver exceptional patient care by addressing needs, processing orders, and directing inquiries to the pharmacist as necessary.
- Complete sales transactions accurately using the cash register, adhering to established protocols.
- Contribute to the safe and effective dispensing of medications and medical equipment by following quality assurance procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies, including HIPAA and regulations regarding pseudoephedrine.
- Input patient information and insurance details accurately.
- Document all prescription details, including calculations and medication specifications.
- Ensure proper documentation for insurance claims and review billing options.
- Notify pharmacists for drug utilization reviews and assist with third-party claim resolutions.
- Process medical expense reports as required.
- Support the implementation of company initiatives and programs.
