Position Overview

The Pharmacy Intern plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations while gaining valuable experience in the pharmaceutical field. This position is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
  • Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent, with active enrollment in an accredited pharmacy program
  • Licensing Requirements: Must possess a valid in-state Pharmacy Intern License
  • Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal inventory management by placing online orders, adjusting order points, and assisting in physical inventory preparations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to comply with company and regulatory standards.
  • Process written prescriptions on a daily basis.
  • Support team members in various tasks to promote operational efficiency.
  • Analyze service metrics and collaborate with the team to enhance performance outcomes.
  • Carry out the standard duties of a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Greet and assist patients with warmth and professionalism at all pharmacy entry points.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care by addressing needs, processing orders, and directing inquiries to the pharmacist as necessary.
  • Complete sales transactions accurately using the cash register, adhering to established protocols.
  • Contribute to the safe and effective dispensing of medications and medical equipment by following quality assurance procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including HIPAA and regulations regarding pseudoephedrine.
  • Input patient information and insurance details accurately.
  • Document all prescription details, including calculations and medication specifications.
  • Ensure proper documentation for insurance claims and review billing options.
  • Notify pharmacists for drug utilization reviews and assist with third-party claim resolutions.
  • Process medical expense reports as required.
  • Support the implementation of company initiatives and programs.
