The Role: Associate Director

Reporting to a Director within our Toronto or Ottawa office, the Associate Director plays a pivotal role in managing private equity/venture capital fund investments. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive support throughout the investment lifecycle, from initial screening and due diligence to portfolio monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of prospective investments and existing portfolio companies, including valuation modeling, cash flow projections, and risk assessments.
  • Market Research & Deal Sourcing: Proactively identify and research potential investment opportunities, leveraging industry expertise and market intelligence to generate deal flow.
  • Investment Committee Support: Prepare comprehensive investment presentations and memorandums for the Investment Committee, effectively communicating key findings and recommendations.
  • Due Diligence & Transaction Execution: Provide critical support during the due diligence process, gathering and analyzing information to ensure sound investment decisions. Assist with transaction documentation and closing activities.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor assigned portfolio companies, conducting regular performance reviews, financial analysis, and risk assessments. Develop and implement strategies to enhance portfolio value.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in private equity/venture capital fund investments and portfolio management.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • CFA, CA/CPA, CBV, or Masters' degree in business/economics is an asset.
  • Completion of ILPA certification is required.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of institutional investment principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
