Senior Estimator Job Description

Laurin & Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the preparation of detailed estimates, leadership in the preparation of tenders/bids for multiple contract types, and fostering relationships with our industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and identify tendering opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Evaluate potential pursuit opportunities and present them to the Vice President for strategic decision-making.
  • Thoroughly assess and appraise tender forms, securing essential documentation such as bonds and insurance for the bid submission.
  • Upload tender documentation for trade partner access onto Laurin's website and dispatch invitations to bid.
  • Execute all requisite material take-offs and integrate them into the estimate, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare Class D, C, B, and A budgets and interact with clients to deliver exceptional service.
  • Manage the bid/tender closing process in collaboration with the Project Management team, ensuring timely and successful outcomes.
  • Conduct a comprehensive post-tender review to identify areas for improvement and optimize future estimates.
Requirements:
  • +10 years of pertinent expertise in estimating within the ICI sector, with additional experience in residential high-rise/multi-unit projects being an asset.
  • A profound understanding of the Calgary region market, coupled with the ability to elicit interest from trades and establish robust professional connections.
  • A University Degree or College Diploma in Construction Engineering or Management, or an equivalent combination of academic qualification and substantial industry know-how.
  • Proficient written and oral communication abilities, with strong computer skills, particularly with Excel, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and Autodesk BIM.
