Job Summary:

The Project Manager – Building Science is responsible for overseeing building envelope and restoration projects from initial assessments through design and specifications, tendering, field services, and contract management phases. Typical projects involve podium decks, curtain walls, masonry, parking structures, windows, and roofing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze buildings and systems to provide clients with recommendations for additions, modifications, and renovations to residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
  • Conduct condition assessments through testing and evaluation of building envelope systems.
  • Perform on-site leakage investigations, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and terms of reference.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative learning environment.
  • Utilize initiative and judgment to identify and resolve issues while adhering to engineering specifications, code requirements, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with clients, design team consultants, and contractors to ensure project compliance with design documents while maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Conduct field investigations, documenting and monitoring project progress, ensuring conformity to building codes and standards, and preparing field observation reports.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to enhance professional skills, gain experience, and learn conventional practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building science/building envelope consulting, contracting, or architectural settings.
  • Experience with building envelope components, including concrete and masonry restoration, cladding, glazing upgrades, and roof replacements.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license for travel to client sites.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to collaborate with a design team and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including technical writing.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting tools and standards.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
  • Asset: Bilingual in English and French.
