The Opportunity

WSP Canada is seeking a highly motivated Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based in Whitehorse, YT. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile and critical projects throughout BC and Yukon, leveraging your expertise to drive innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering staff on geotechnical consulting projects, sharing technical knowledge to foster innovative project solutions.
  • Lead and prepare geotechnical studies and engineering reports, providing recommendations on various geotechnical aspects in projects.
  • Provide geotechnical engineering expertise to support multi-disciplinary projects, including highways, bridges, buildings, dams, industrial infrastructure, tunneling, and more.
  • Develop and lead projects requiring geotechnical investigation programs, prepare bidding documents, solicit bids, and evaluate subcontractor submissions.
  • Support field operations through supervision and monitoring of boreholes, in situ tests, piezocone soundings, reconnaissance trenches, and miscellaneous construction work.
Requirements
  • A degree in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of standard geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Ensoft, Rocscience, or other similar software suites.
  • A strong track record of managing and completing projects on time and on budget.
