WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are in search of a Sustainable Energy Program Coordinator with 3-5 years of relevant experience. This full-time role is based in Halifax, NS and will involve travel during the work week. The primary responsibilities include:
- Overseeing development initiatives for new and existing utility-scale renewable energy projects across Canada
- Ensuring project success through various phases from conception to operational status
- Managing project timelines and financial plans for a diverse range of projects
- Collaborating with multiple team leaders to synchronize project activities
- Administering contracts with third-party consultants and contractors
- Building and sustaining relationships with a wide array of regulators, stakeholders, and rightsholders
KEY TASKS & DUTIES
- Guiding projects through development to ensure compliance with all requirements to achieve expected outcomes
- Formulating and overseeing project budgets and timelines from inception to construction to mitigate risks and impacts
- Conducting risk management assessments
- Developing strategies with internal teams to fulfill project requirements
- Leading and nurturing relationships with rightsholders, community members, stakeholders, utilities, regulators, and consultants involved in the projects
- Drafting technical plans, memos, reports, and presentations related to project progress
- Providing advice on the identification and feasibility of new renewable energy initiatives
- Negotiating, revising, and preparing real property agreements with both individual and corporate landowners
- Overseeing the completion of wind resource assessments for projects by third-party engineering firms
- Managing public, stakeholder, and rightsholder engagement and consultation processes
- Completing and managing interconnection applications with utility providers
- Assisting team members in strategizing and applying for various municipal, provincial, and federal permits and funding opportunities
- Leading and drafting grant applications, funding requests, and proposals for renewable energy projects
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of specific project management experience, ideally related to energy initiatives
- A post-secondary degree in engineering, planning, environmental science, or a related field, or a combination of experience and education
- A comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of renewable energy projects, project development, and relationship management
