About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Archaeology Field Technician I to join our team in Southwestern Ontario. As a key member of our archaeological team, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork under the supervision of an experienced Field Supervisor, including Stage 2 surveys, Stage 3 site-specific assessments, and Stage 4 mitigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions, including remote and isolated areas.
  • Support Field Supervisors and provide assistance where needed.
  • Participate in a team environment, providing support to other field technicians and assisting with field activities as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical and professional behavior, demonstrating a "Safety First" focus and acting as a role model to other staff.
Requirements
  • Ability to work daily at field site locations, enjoying fieldwork and working in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to perform physical demanding and repetitive movement tasks, such as hand shoveling, troweling, and screening soil/earth.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate information, questions, and concerns related to the site work to Field Supervisors in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, or independently when required.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and clean drivers abstract, with reliable transportation to and from designated WSP E&I Canada Limited project sites or offices.
