Unit Overview

The Regional Neuroscience and Medicine Program is dedicated to providing exceptional care for individuals with Neuro/Spine/Orthopedic conditions through the application of advanced monitoring and treatment methodologies. This specialized patient demographic necessitates both inpatient and outpatient clinical nursing expertise to ensure a seamless continuum of care and effective outcome monitoring. The role of nursing encompasses significant contributions to program development, research, and education, which are essential for fostering future advancements, scientific exploration, and evidence-based practices across this patient population's care continuum.

Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner specializing in Orthopedics will take charge of managing post-operative care for Orthopedic patients, ensuring they receive comprehensive support throughout their recovery journey. Nurse Practitioners (Adult) are advanced practice nurses whose primary responsibility is to deliver thorough, holistic, and family-centered care to adult patients in both acute and outpatient settings. This is achieved through the application of advanced skills, knowledge, and education in health assessment, diagnosis, management, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Health Assessment and Diagnosis: The NP in Orthopedics will conduct assessments and interventions for patients with complex needs to optimize their surgical outcomes.
  2. Healthcare Management and Therapeutic Interventions: The NP will establish a therapeutic rapport with patients and guide them in their post-operative care management.
  3. Health Promotion and Prevention: Engage in and implement strategies aimed at promoting health, preventing illness, and mitigating complications related to injuries and diseases.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, with potential requirements for extended hours.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for Faculty Appointment.
  • Development and revision of medical directives, collaborative practice guidelines, and certification for performing controlled medical acts in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Continuous enhancement of clinical knowledge (e.g., pathophysiology, treatment modalities, outcomes) and competencies within the specialty area.
  • Establishment of annual learning goals and objectives, with regular reviews of individual practice through reflective practice and participation in quality assurance programs.
  • Engagement in annual practice reviews with physician collaborators.
