About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to serve as an ambassador for new and existing members of Alterna Savings. As a Personal Banking Associate, you will play a key role in uncovering and assessing the needs of all members, identifying opportunities for cross-selling, up-selling, and meeting the needs of all mass market members by providing appropriate education, advice, products, and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow established sales and service processes to ensure exceptional member experience.
  • Meet sales targets by delivering products and services that satisfy members' primary needs.
  • Proactively probe to uncover additional needs to cross-sell and up-sell at every member interaction.
  • Provide education and advice to members on basic transactional banking and less complex investment and credit situations.
  • Execute transaction posting, cash management, administrative, and security/risk management procedures with the highest level of accuracy.
  • Identify and refer high-value or high-potential members to appropriate staff.
  • Maximize growth and retention by spotting opportunities and contributing to overall Branch goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in branch meetings, huddles, sales initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Be available for walk-in traffic and other member-initiated contact.
  • Act as a member of both the MSR and Sales teams.
  • Maintain a solid working knowledge and understanding of all products and services offered by Alterna Savings, including new accounts, investments, loans, and mortgages.
  • Be proficient in the use of sales and service tools to support member interactions.
  • Identify and set personal development plans, complete activities set out in the plan, and influence Employee engagement and enablement.
  • Actively participate in regular weekly goal-setting meetings and coaching sessions.
  • Comply with anti-money laundering guidelines and other compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Actively participate in community initiatives as determined by the Branch or more broadly as part of Alterna Savings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Expectations and Outcomes

  • Meet or exceed personal sales/service targets as determined by the Branch AOP.
  • Members will view Alterna Savings as exceeding their expectations in terms of service quality.
  • Alignment of individual contributions to Financial Performance, Member Engagement, and Community Impact goals of Alterna Savings.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education coupled with a minimum 2 years of experience in a sales industry or equivalent experience.
  • Financial Services Industry experience is an asset.
  • Proven sales experience.
  • Experience in providing credit solutions is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of investments, loans, and basic knowledge of mortgages.
  • Working knowledge and ability to demonstrate basic sales skills required for opportunity spotting and uncovering needs.
  • Sound knowledge of various computer applications such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Good problem-solving skills sufficient to identify, analyze, and resolve basic member issues/problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
