As an Automobile Risk Assessor, you will play a vital role in the meticulous evaluation of personal auto insurance applications, with a primary focus on processing new business, policy modifications, and renewals in alignment with established underwriting protocols and within your designated underwriting authority.

This position will operate in a hybrid model, requiring 1-3 days in the office weekly, thus candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluating, approving, or rejecting submissions within your assigned underwriting limits.
• Engaging in negotiations with brokers to establish agreeable terms and conditions for risk acceptance while fostering strong broker relationships.
• Reviewing underwriting inquiries, assisting brokers in confirming accurate rates, and clarifying underwriting guidelines to ensure proper application.
• Possessing the ability to interpret and understand auto policy documentation.
• Providing technical underwriting assistance to brokers as required.
• Participating in industry events and functions to enhance broker relationships and further develop your expertise.

Qualifications for Success

• A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in personal lines automobile underwriting or relevant insurance experience.
• In-depth knowledge of private passenger classifications and various vehicle types.
• Experience in commercial auto underwriting is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Outstanding customer service and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and adaptable to new software.
• Familiarity with Guidewire is a plus.
• Professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions with policyholders, brokers, and colleagues.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure and prioritizing tasks effectively.
• A collaborative team player who contributes to a positive work atmosphere.
