Daily Responsibilities
The job location is in Herbert, SK. Siemens Energy is actively seeking skilled and motivated individuals for the role of Wind Technician (troubleshooter). Candidates should have experience with SG145 turbines. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to ensure optimal performance at our wind farms. The ideal candidate will possess the flexibility to adapt their schedule and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills independently and efficiently. Exceptional customer service is essential, along with the capability to manage complex systems in challenging environments. Participation in the development of innovative field procedures and best practices is expected. Safety and quality are integral to our culture, and candidates should prioritize these aspects. This position is associated with a new wind farm in Saskatchewan, located in Herbert. Relocation assistance may be provided if necessary.
Key Contributions
- Oversee the service and maintenance of Siemens Energy wind turbines at the Saskatchewan Wind Turbine site.
- While primarily based at a home wind farm site, occasional support for other sites across Canada may be required.
- Deliver outstanding service to customers and effectively manage stressful or hazardous situations.
- Engage in the creation of enhanced field procedures and best practices.
- The role involves working within the wind turbine enclosure at heights of approximately 300 feet.
- The ability to maintain composure and think clearly in stressful or hazardous conditions is crucial for working in confined spaces.
- Comprehensive training and assessments will be provided to cover safety and technical job requirements.
- Physical demands include ladder climbing (minimum of 267 steps), stair climbing, prolonged standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, overhead work, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibrations, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions.
- Travel requirements may reach up to 10% annually.
Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of the SG4X platform, particularly in electrical systems, including PLC programming and converters.
- Candidates must exhibit strong initiative and a desire to learn new technologies, translating that knowledge into personal success.
- A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan daily/weekly tasks with a focus on quality and results.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft platforms such as Outlook and Excel.
- Travel to customer sites within and outside Canada is a job requirement.
- Responsible for performing technical tasks primarily focused on predefined service delivery for customer equipment.
- Must be eligible to hold a valid Passport and Driver's License.
- Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
