Program Duration: Weeks during the summer months
The Activity Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective execution of the activities segment of the ILSC Toronto Junior Camp. This position is essential for delivering engaging, well-structured, and inclusive activities and excursions, while prioritizing the safety, welfare, and discipline of all participants. Responsibilities include overseeing the planning, logistics, and successful implementation of all off-campus excursions.
This is a significant management role requiring a seasoned leader capable of guiding a team of staff members to provide a secure and enjoyable summer language program, as well as a memorable Canadian cultural experience.
Work Schedule:
The role commences as part-time and transitions to full-time during the summer. Compensation is hourly for part-time and salaried for full-time, with eligibility for a project completion bonus, details of which will be provided during the hiring process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Planning: Schedule and confirm all bookings for excursions, manage budgeting and invoicing, and determine necessary supplies.
- Staff Recruitment and Training: Collaborate in the hiring process and lead pre-camp training for activity leaders.
- Program Setup: Assist in preparing the Junior Camp program, including inventory management and signage display.
- Program Management: Enforce policies and procedures, participate in meetings, and manage daily operations.
- Activity Oversight: Lead the activity leadership team, monitor expenditures, and ensure proper staffing ratios.
- Staff Support: Assist in monitoring staff schedules and coordinate arrival and departure duties.
- Student Supervision: Lead student orientation, ensure attendance, and address welfare and disciplinary issues.
- Program Closure: Assist in packing up materials and conducting post-program evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Experience in team management within educational or recreational settings.
- Background in working with children and teenagers.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Desirable qualifications include certifications in CPR/First Aid and experience in leisure studies or event planning.
Additional Requirements:
- Criminal Record Police Check.
- Medical records and immunization reports may be required.
