Position Overview

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer in the Minerals and Metals sector, you will play a pivotal role in our Burlington office, contributing to innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee mechanical engineering design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards by guiding the performance of mechanical engineers and reviewing their outputs.
  • Facilitate equipment procurement by defining specifications and collaborating with procurement teams.
  • Manage the mechanical engineering budget efficiently, reviewing and approving cost estimates while exploring alternative solutions to optimize expenses.
  • Lead mechanical engineering efforts on significant projects, coordinating with engineers and designers, managing project timelines and budgets, and reporting on mechanical activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for the development and review of mechanical contracts.
  • Generate and issue engineering drawings and deliverables for construction in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Encourage high performance among engineers and project team members through daily support and mentorship.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Ontario is required.
  • Experience in the Minerals & Metals industry is essential; Oil & Gas experience is a plus.
  • Several years of mechanical design engineering experience in relevant sectors such as mining, mineral processing, or materials handling, particularly with gold and copper.
  • Proficient in resolving technical challenges using personal expertise, external consultants, and in-house resources.
  • Strong command of AutoCAD, 3D modeling software, and MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering practices.
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire employees at various levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Effective time management and task prioritization skills for the design team.
