OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Managing Director, Alberta, the Recycling Collection System Manager will facilitate the execution of collection and post-service operations from key partners responsible for collection, processing, logistics, material auditing, and community engagement as outlined in the executed Statement(s) of Work (SOW) by Circular Materials Alberta.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cultivate in-depth knowledge of Alberta's Extended Producer Regulation (EPR).
  • Ensure adherence to Agreements and Statements of Work for collection and post-collection contracts with both communities and contractors.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with contract partners through collaborative efforts, including process refinement, oversight, issue resolution, and contract negotiations.
  • Identify, implement, and engage in studies and pilot projects to explore alternative collection processing methods and innovative technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members overseeing the Collection System, material quality, and auditing to guarantee efficient, effective, and regulatory-compliant operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments managing the administrative and financial aspects of the partnerships.
  • Contribute to the formulation and documentation of procedures during the transition of the Alberta EPR program.
  • Oversee the annual schedule of critical contract events, ensuring compliance with obligations.
  • Propose initiatives for continuous departmental improvement.
  • Document all interactions with collection and post-collection service providers in the enterprise system.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent, with formal training in contract management and negotiation skills (preferred).

Experience:

  • Over 5 years of experience in managing waste management contracts, including negotiating new contracts and amendments.
  • More than 3 years of experience in collection or post-collection recycling management, including Material Recycling Facility processing and end market management.

Knowledge/Competencies/Skills:

  • Familiarity with waste management services and processes related to PPP materials.
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, technical proficiency with MS Office suite and business analytic tools, experience managing competing priorities at a senior level, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
