Automotive Parts Consultant

We are seeking a dedicated Automotive Parts Consultant to enhance our operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist all customers (both retail and service) in selecting necessary parts in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner
  • Inform customers about related part requirements and promotions, ensuring they are aware of the complete product range
  • Handle phone inquiries, providing pricing information and other relevant details
  • Review service estimates to confirm the accuracy of ordered parts and pricing
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers
  • Retrieve and fulfill orders from inventory
  • Alert the parts manager regarding out-of-stock items or urgent shop supplies
  • Source out-of-stock parts from external suppliers and place emergency orders when necessary
  • Notify service advisors and customers upon receipt of special orders
  • Inform the service department when all parts have arrived and are ready for delivery
  • Prepare orders for delivery to the service department, ensuring all parts are labeled with customer information and job numbers
  • Follow up on back-ordered items
  • Regularly verify will-call and back-order files, returning unclaimed items to vendors or restocking as needed
  • Replenish assigned inventory on a daily basis
  • Assist outside sales representatives with their orders
  • Ensure all internal parts requests are billed correctly on service repair orders
  • Process payments from retail customers or obtain credit approvals
  • Ensure all charge sales are signed by customers
  • Provide customers with their copy of the invoice
  • Process returns for parts, ensuring original invoices or numbers are available for verification
  • Issue and track requested tools for technicians
  • Maintain organized records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special orders
  • Prepare orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pickup
  • Reach out to assigned accounts via phone
  • Keep front and rear counter areas tidy and organized
  • Clean computer terminals and printers daily
  • Participate in available training programs
  • Stay updated on new products and product enhancements
  • Collaborate with the parts manager to maintain a lost sales tracking system
  • Uphold a professional appearance

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in parts counter, technical roles, or equivalent (experience with FCA preferred)
  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary program or training courses is advantageous
  • Familiarity with CDK, MPI Edge, and Star Parts is a plus
  • Strong understanding of parts and service operations and inventory management
  • Excellent diplomatic skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Professionalism and integrity, earning the trust of others
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and MS Office
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting heavy items and standing for extended periods
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
