Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Field Engineer to join our team at POWER Engineers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems, including relay testing using test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150.
  • Technical and Safety Development: Develop and implement technical and safety procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Support Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis – JHA to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Accurately document test results and produce field reports in a requested format.
  • Prepare and implement test plans to ensure efficient and effective testing.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings and schematics to ensure accurate testing and commissioning.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities such as time cards, expense reports, and project reports.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably electrical or electrical technology.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills and ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and microprocessor or relay software and project environment skills.
  • Administrative software: MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experienced in managing electrical drawings.
  • Ability to meet minimum insurability standards based on a Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol test.
  • Ability to pass seven (7) year background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • NICET or NETA II/III certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in the area of SCADA/Automation systems, preferably in the power utility industry.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays.
  • Experience testing and commissioning electrical equipment on high voltage substations, including CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, and DC systems.
  • Experience with multiple vendors RTUs/communication processors, HMIs, and networking equipment.
  • Experience with networking, power systems, SCADA communication protocols, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in SCADA system design, communication design, and construction specifications related to SCADA/Automation systems.
  • Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays, including SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families.
  • Technical skills related to protective relays, including relay calibration, control scheme testing, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays.

Base Salary Range: $30 - $60 per hour
