Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Job Overview
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the ideal candidate will prioritize the delivery of superior products by guiding team members to uphold high standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and adherence to operational protocols.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the continuous development, performance, and daily management of shift personnel to ensure quality benchmarks are met and production efficiency is maximized.
- Strategically plan and coordinate the scheduling of the production workforce.
- Provide leadership in a unionized manufacturing setting, including managing employee performance and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Enhance existing operational processes through the implementation of lean methodologies and maintain comprehensive departmental documentation.
- Assess training and development needs, fostering personal growth opportunities for team members while motivating them to achieve optimal results.
- Facilitate training sessions, cross-training, and employee rotations to promote product knowledge, process understanding, and professional development.
- Ensure all personnel are well-versed in safety, production, and quality protocols.
- Uphold compliance with company and OSHA safety standards, conducting safety inspections as required.
- Lead weekly team meetings to communicate updates regarding safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Evaluate team members' performance and track progress toward skill enhancement.
- Propose, advocate for, and implement strategies to refine production techniques, enhance equipment efficiency, and elevate product quality.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance protocols.
- Identify and address production challenges efficiently, assisting in resolving quality-related issues.
- Investigate and document incidents of safety near-misses, accidents, and hazard identification.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment is consistently maintained.
- Collaborate closely with fellow production supervisors to promote operational consistency.
- Perform additional job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in industrial technology, engineering, business administration, or management is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity; experience in high-speed, continuous process manufacturing is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, coupled with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing context.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership capabilities to effectively manage a diverse workforce.
- Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and strong analytical abilities.
- Proven history of operational improvements through employee engagement and effective team-building skills.
- Exceptional time management, planning, and organizational capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with Workday time and attendance systems is beneficial.
