Position Overview: As a key member of the logistics team, the Transportation Supervisor will report directly to the Transportation Manager. This role is essential in overseeing the daily operations of truck drivers and clerks at our distribution center, ensuring timely deliveries to our partners, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and optimizing delivery schedules with a focus on efficiency.
Key Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of leadership experience in a logistics or transportation role is preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in the transportation sector is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Possession of a valid class 1 driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to safe working practices.
- Enhance and maintain on-time delivery performance metrics.
- Supervise and guide the activities of truck drivers and transportation clerks.
- Conduct performance evaluations and monitor driver performance using onboard computer systems.
- Participate in the recruitment process for new truck drivers.
- Manage a comprehensive schedule for drivers, vehicles, and trailers to meet delivery demands.
- Design, implement, and oversee driver training programs, including health and safety protocols.
- Ensure all necessary training documentation is maintained.
- Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs for delivery vehicles as required.
- Compile bi-weekly summaries of service hours for drivers and vehicles.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of vehicle supplies.
- Review and verify monthly vehicle logs for accuracy.
- Address and resolve any transportation-related concerns from customers and drivers.
- Collaborate with restaurant owners and other departments to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
- Conduct regular follow-up calls with restaurant owners.
- Report on fleet performance metrics for sustainability assessments.
