About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physician Lead to support the implementation of the One Person One Record (OPOR) initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the institutional efforts to build, validate, and optimize the physician and advanced practice provider components of the province-wide Clinical Information System (CIS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support OPOR readiness and clinical practice standardization across the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and IWK Health.
  • Engage patient care providers to contribute to the effective use of the CIS.
  • Assist in creating clinical protocols, standardization, and metrics for clinical documentation.
  • Develop flexible, transferable models for pathways of care and order set management.
Deliverables
  • The Physician Lead will be assigned by service area.
  • Active participation in departmental/network, service area meetings as OPOR representative.
  • Participation in Physician Needs Assessment(s) for clinical area.
  • Identification and engagement with champions and subject matter experts.
  • Direct liaison with physicians with questions, concerns, and feedback.
Eligibility
  • Medical degree required.
  • Licensed physician with current practice required.
  • Informatics experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant understanding of pain points, capabilities, and deficiencies in the process.
  • Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow in inpatient specialty units.
  • Previous experience in clinical outcomes, patient safety, and quality management.
  • Previous experience in routine use of clinical information systems for patient care.
  • Successful experience with implementation of healthcare applications.
  • Experience with innovation.
  • Training in medical administration, informatics, or public health.
  • Expertise in data analytics and population health.
Time Requirements

Estimated at 4-6 hours per week.

Compensation

By combination of deliverable compensation.
