Position Overview

Salary Range - $50,000-55,000

As a Sales Counter Associate, you will deliver exceptional sales assistance to customers visiting our Profit Centre counters. Your primary goal will be to ensure an outstanding customer experience by maintaining, organizing, and keeping the sales area pristine. Additionally, you will assist customers by addressing inquiries, processing orders, and managing backorder follow-ups. You will also provide essential support to both Inside and Outside Sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers purchasing materials at the Profit Centre counters
  • Research products for customers and offer recommendations from our extensive product range
  • Drive sales growth through effective counter merchandising, product promotion, and lead generation for the Outside Account Manager while engaging with customers
  • Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area, including merchandising displays
  • Notify the buyer when stock levels are low
  • Follow up on backorders with suppliers and provide customers with accurate delivery timelines
  • Process returns and warranty claims for both account and cash sales, ensuring compliance with all procedures
  • Address customer concerns and complaints effectively
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Profit Centre Manager

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; College and/or University degree is an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
  • Exceptional customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building abilities with customers, vendors, and team members
  • Capability to learn and operate the software systems used for order processing
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • Intermediate math skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to learn to operate material handling equipment
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and high standards of integrity
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience or knowledge of plumbing and building products
  • Ability to utilize the Internet for problem-solving and finding alternative solutions for customers
  • Experience with software such as Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
