Job Title: Menu Planning Specialist

SGP Purchasing Partner Network is seeking a highly skilled Menu Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing menu plans that meet the nutritional and culinary needs of our clients in the Senior Care market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute semiannual complete menu cycles for Long-Term Care clients, including WeekataGlance, A La Carte, Therapeutic Diet Spreadsheets, Production Sheets, Recipes, and Order Worksheets.
  • Produce seasonal menus for Retirement and Assisted Living clients that are both nutritious and cost-effective.
  • Work with our Sales Team and Procurement Manager to plan and execute Menu Planning Days for both Eastern and Western clients, as well as other educational events as required.
  • Support clients and suppliers in the field, making presentations to outline the features and benefits of the SGP menu.
  • Collaborate with our Culinary Procurement Manager to develop menu critical path, outlining key activities and timelines, and continuously monitor and track progress.
  • Participate in all aspects of food, including nutritional evaluation, specifications review, recipe development, and costing.
  • Lead, implement, and review resident opinion surveys and facility feedback to aid in ongoing menu planning and development.
  • Accountable for data management in the computerized menu system to analyze food costing, new product links, diet extensions, fluid sub-grid (including supplements), updates per menu launch, and nutritional content.
  • Liaise with government and professional associations.
  • Support menu ideation sessions, new vendor administration process, and website updates on a timely basis.

Requirements:

  • A food professional with a minimum of five years operational experience in the Seniors market in Long-Term Care or Retirement.
  • An active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
  • Post-Secondary School studies in Food and Nutrition.
  • Being a Registered Dietitian will be viewed as an asset.
  • Experience with MealSuite Menu Software is an asset.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be detail-oriented and proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Superb organizational, priority-setting, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed, solid project management skills.
  • Customer-focused with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers, and the industry at large.
