Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Analyst to join our team at WSP Canada. As a Cost Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting senior staff in cost control, variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior staff in cost control, variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting
  • Prepare and assess cost control reports to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Monitor job performance against forecasts and provide insightful reports to project management
  • Regularly reassess project scope, cost, and schedule to ensure alignment with project team and management
  • Gather and provide data on project costs to deliver accurate total project forecasts
  • Identify deliverables, assign budgets, and track progress to keep projects on track
  • Engage with discipline leads, project leads, and management team to gather necessary information for earned value, cost, and forecast reporting
  • Report and graph updates on actual man-hours, costs invoiced, incurred, physical progress, forecast to complete, key issues, and scheduled achievements
  • Review invoices to ensure correct revenue collection and update project information accordingly
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met within assigned budgets and apply controls to adhere to procedures
  • Support the management of change processes, including change orders and change logs
  • Maintain and develop cost control systems, tools, and procedures to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in industrial engineering, finance, business, or any other engineering discipline
  • Effective communication skills to clearly understand, express, and apply basic technical, business, or administrative concepts
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to switch focus quickly and efficiently respond to changing priorities
  • Receptiveness to coaching, knowledge sharing, and support from more experienced staff
  • Interest in cost control and potential experience in a cost control position or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, with advanced Excel skills being a must
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly and be a self-starter
  • Detail-oriented with strong teamwork, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively
  • Commitment to health and safety on projects and contributing regularly to safety discussions
  • Goal-oriented with a consistent ability to meet targets and deadlines
  • Proactive learning with a willingness to seek out assistance and ask questions of company leaders and experts
  • Leadership by example with a positive environment rooted in communication, ownership, and camaraderie
