Position Summary:
We seek a seasoned Technical Leader with extensive expertise in optical and optoelectronic product development and manufacturing. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary development team to design and create advanced optical components, modules, and subsystems tailored to meet client specifications. Reporting to the Director of Optical Technology, you will lead and support projects from conceptualization through detailed design, process definition, prototyping, and qualification phases, culminating in implementation for mass production.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead project initiatives within a diverse development team, delivering design, development, and manufacturing solutions for optoelectronic and microelectronic products that align with customer requirements. Projects may include telecommunications components, sensing/LiDAR optical systems, and medical optoelectronic devices. Collaborate with business development and engineering teams to craft and present customer program proposals in response to RFIs or RFQs. Act as the primary interface for customer management, overseeing schedule and task list development, communication protocols, reporting procedures, and documentation. Work closely with the development team to outline all facets of the development program in accordance with our Product Development Process, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and contractual obligations. Supervise prototype and pre-production builds by defining and managing build plans and supply chain logistics. Oversee the definition and execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including supply chain management, qualification, ramp planning, manufacturing readiness, and product qualification. Inspire and motivate the project team to achieve timely and budget-conscious execution of the defined program. Occasional travel may be necessary.Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. At least 12 years of relevant experience in Program Management and/or Product Development. Comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle, from concept design to NPI and volume manufacturing, including qualification processes. Proven experience in transitioning complex products and processes into manufacturing environments. Proficient in analyzing project-related data and utilizing standard project management tools and documentation systems. Familiarity with a wide range of optical and microelectronic technologies, including materials and components, is advantageous. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
