Recreation Therapy Assistant

About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Recreation Therapy Assistant to join our Acquired Brain Injury Transitional Housing team at George Pearson Centre in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide recreation therapy services to clients with acquired brain injuries, promoting their independence and participation in community activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out individual and group-based recreation programs based on client needs, both on-site and in the community.
  • Program plan, demonstrate recreation activities, and adapt programs to maximize client independence and participation.
  • Report client progress and participation to the Recreation Therapist and interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide functional direction to program volunteers.
  • Operate a van or bus to transport clients within the community as required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Therapeutic Recreation Diploma Program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 4 vehicle license.
