Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at Fraser Health Authority. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthetics, assessing their condition, and determining the best course of action to ensure their safe and effective recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess post-anaesthetic patients, collecting and evaluating information from various sources to determine their condition and develop a plan for their care.
- Provide nursing care to address critical care needs, following established standards and hospital policies, and collaborating with the interprofessional care team to ensure seamless care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, using verbal, written, and electronic communication means to ensure clear and concise information exchange.
- Coordinate nursing care, setting priorities, assigning and delegating tasks to support staff, and making referrals to the interprofessional care team as needed.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, adhering to sound bacteriological and preventative medicine principles.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients, demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, and advocating for their rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year's recent relevant clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area, proficiency in initiating and maintaining intravenous therapy, and ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment and apply nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care.
- Ability to recognize acuity changes, determine and deal with emergency situations, patients, and families, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and other personnel.
