Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Culinary Specialist to join our team at Sunterra Market. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality food preparation and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Kitchen Team Lead and Market Manager in all kitchen functions, including food preparation, inventory management, and team supervision.
  • Prepare kitchen products according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Guide the completion of daily prep lists and job assignments, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including coolers, shelves, and equipment.
  • Stay up-to-date on product availability, preparation, storage, and nutritional aspects, providing expert advice to customers and team members.
  • Process product from Receiver, accurately documenting transfers, waste, and spoilage.
Requirements
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Passion for food and cooking, with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Cooking/restaurant experience required, with a focus on food safety and handling.
  • Food Safe Course training and WHMIS Certification a plus.
Working Conditions

This role requires standing and/or walking for extended periods, with exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with caution required while working around ovens, grills, and other hot surfaces. Some reaching above and below shoulder height, as well as repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation, are also required.
