Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Millwright Apprentice. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and developing skills associated with performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting equipment. You will also assist with project work and perform routine duties such as shop cleanup, equipment changeovers, and creating work orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow bakery safety and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Set up production lines and assist with changeovers as required
  • Perform routine preventative, proactive, corrective, and emergency activities
  • Effectively use the SAP maintenance system to create work orders, complete PMs, and find parts
  • Attend and successfully complete the in-school portion of training as outlined by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities
  • Maintain accurate log books and daily shift reports
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities related to food safety, legality, and quality
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in the SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMPs and health and safety rules as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
Requirements
  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in maintenance and self-improvement initiatives
  • Good analytical skills and ability to find solutions
  • Understanding of the importance of urgency in solving problems
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, work from heights, and in tight spaces
  • Must pass a mechanical aptitude test as part of the selection process
Work Environment

Aspire Bakeries is a 24-hour/7-day manufacturing operation. The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58-80 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the department. The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times. Depending on position, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and respirators are available if required.
