Job Title: Women's Fashion Designer/Merchandiser

Venture III Industries Inc. is seeking an experienced Women's Fashion Designer/Merchandiser to lead our creative team in Toronto.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and fashion-oriented individual to create and execute original product for women's sleep and lounge collections. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of style, have a love for fashion prints, and an excellent colour eye.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create original design concepts and product assortments for various retailers based on their custom needs.
  • Prepare all necessary materials to convey line concepts to clients, in conjunction with the graphics team.
  • Attend client merchandising meetings to present each line to the customer's buying teams.
  • Research seasonal design and colour trends.
  • Manage trend and product development direction packages, and vendor development proposals based on the needs of the business.
  • Sourcing new fabrications suitable for various products.
  • Ensure all stages of product development are thoroughly researched to maximize production efficiency and reduce any potential issues causing delivery delay.
  • Previewing factory costs of all styles/fabrics to ensure they fit within each customer's budget constraints.
  • Analyze each customer's buying history and review sales performance, preparing all materials required by customer to support this analysis.
  • Lead the graphics team in preparing all artwork required for original textile design.
  • Approve all print strike offs, lab dips, and trims.
  • Create label, hangtag, and packaging concepts.
  • Lead the team in determining factory placement of bulk production.
  • Follow the critical path calendar to manage the product development process from end to end.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Fashion Design or Merchandising or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of merchandising or design experience in the fashion industry.
  • Ability to identify and interpret trend and execute at a commercial level.
  • Strong understanding of textile printing is preferred.
  • Strong product development skills from conception to finished product.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
