We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cabinetmaking Apprentice to join our team at Brampton Kitchen & Cabinets Ltd. As a Cabinetmaking Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced cabinetmakers in the fabrication and assembly of custom cabinets and furniture.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Woodworking Machines: Safely operate a variety of woodworking machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
- Trim and Fit Parts: Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints.
- Sand and Finish: Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics.
- Apply Finishing Touches: Apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and apply lacquer or other sealers.
- Attention to Detail: Apply toners, highlights, glazes, or shaders to obtain the desired finish and ensure a high-quality product.
- Surface Preparation: Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces to meet our high standards.
As a Cabinetmaking Apprentice, you will work in a fast-paced millwork shop environment, where you will be exposed to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. You will also be required to bend, crouch, and kneel to perform tasks.
Requirements- Physical Demands: This role requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Work Schedule: The work schedule is 35 hours per week, with a permanent work term.
- Language: English is the primary language spoken in the workplace.
