Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our interdisciplinary team at Edgewood Health Network Inc. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, evidence-based treatment programs to individuals struggling with mental health and addiction issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to identify their unique needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Provide treatment management, guidance, and administer medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Implement client care plans, including ongoing health teaching and education.
- Administer medications to clients, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress records, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client involvement in addiction treatment.
- Decide and initiate action in case of medical emergencies.
- Provide supportive counseling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit, conducive to client learning and growth.
- Coordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
- Actively participate in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of client care.
- Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Manager.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training or Completion of a recognized Advanced Care Paramedic program.
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Advanced Care Paramedic registered in the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Current basic CPR certification.
- Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Leadership/Charge experience preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Knowledge of/experience with a team-based person-centered care approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
