Position Overview

The Island Health organization is in search of dedicated family medicine specialists to join a collaborative team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

Role Responsibilities

As a Family Medicine Specialist, you will work alongside a diverse group of practitioners and health providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients in the community. This role involves providing regular primary care services both within the clinic and in the broader community as required.

You will be an integral part of an inter-professional team that includes Nurse Practitioners, fellow Family Practitioners, medical office assistants, registered nurses, social workers, and behavioral health consultants.

After-Hours Coverage

The Family Medicine Specialist will also participate in an after-hours call group, sharing on-call responsibilities with other healthcare providers at the clinic.

Compensation and Benefits

Eligible candidates may receive additional compensation as per the Rural Subsidy Agreement (RSA), which may include:

  • Retention Premium: 4.2%
  • Retention Flat Fee: $6,800
  • Recruitment Incentive (pro-rated): $10,000
  • Relocation Costs Reimbursement (up to $15,000)
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME):
    - Years 3 & 4: $2,000 annually
    - After 4 years: $4,000 annually

This position offers a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 1.2, providing an opportunity to engage in meaningful work within the community.
